Norton 360 Review

Norton 360 is a completely revamped Internet security solution for a wall-to-wall protection against all known types of Internet threats.

Norton 360 combines features known from Symantec's previous applications such as Norton Internet Security, Norton AntiVirus and Personal Firewall.

With this product you get not only Norton Internet Security 2007, antivirus and antispyware protection with a firewall, but this all-in-one application includes features known from Norton SystemWorks as well, i.e. a disk defragmenter and a backup program that can back up your local disk contents as well as removable media. There is an online storage of up to 2GB available so that you can store your data off-site.

Norton 360 comes with add-ons that can be downloaded via Symantec's Live Update at no charge such as parental control application, ad blocking and spam blocking features.

The interface is simple and the program is easy to use. Even non-experienced users will find the application easy to administer and navigate and those familiar with Windows Vista interface will find it even more straightforward to operate.

Norton 360 is ready to use out-of-the box and doesn't require much user intervention to get it up and running after installation.

When it comes to performance, Norton 360 can scan around 500,000 items in about 60 minutes running on an Athlon XP+3000 with 512MB of RAM.

Norton 360 implements a new threat detection approach, which means it doesn't exclusively rely on definitions and signatures, but it utilizes Symantec's SONAR heuristic approach to identify zero-day threats.

Symantec has greatly simplified PC security with its newest product and despite the interface simplicity it remains a five-star Internet security program.
