How to Download and Use the Norton Recovery Tool
Norton Recovery Tool is designed to remove any threats from your computer that prevent successful installation of the Norton product.
Some viruses purposely block installation of the Norton software, because they "know" this is an anti-virus application that will remove the threat. If the installation of your Norton product fails, you may attempt to remove any existing viruses using the Norton Recovery Tool. Norton Recovery Tool checks your PC for the threats that block successful Norton installation and removes them.
Norton Recovery Tool is located on the product CD you purchased from your Norton supplier.

If you purchased your Norton product at the Symantec Online Store as a downloadable setup file, you don't have the Norton Recovery Tool. In that case, the application needs to be downloaded separately and burned onto a CD.
