Explaining Norton Protection Status Colors

Protection status colors are actually security status indicators that let you get an overview of your current protection circumstances. When a serious risk such as a virus is detected, a corresponding warning will display in the notification area and if the issue remains unresolved, Norton status indicator will turn red.

Watch close attention to what your status indicator shows, and respond timely if you see other color than green.

Norton status indicator can display the following statuses:

  • GREEN: Your system is protected
  • YELLOW: Norton requires your attention because one or more unresolved problems persist
  • RED: Your system is at risk and you should act immediately to resolve any outstanding security issues. To resolve issues, simply follow on-screen instructions that Norton displays when you open the Main Window.
